Drew Gaines is a visual artist born here in Denton, Texas. He works primarily in oil paints depicting local landscapes, the people who inhabit them and scenes from his travels. He began pursuing art after a long hiatus from painting during which he worked as a photojournalist and received a bachelor's degree in journalism at the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas. His passion for storytelling persists through his paintbrush as he uses his studies of photography and observation to make engaging works on canvas. He has exhibited at VOiD Gallery in Denton and at Blackbear Coffee Shop and Studio in Cloudcroft, New Mexico.
