Greater Denton Arts Council

Patterson-Appleton Arts Center

The Patterson-Appleton Arts Center is home to the Greater Denton Arts Council offices and our three on-site art galleries, the Meadows Gallery, the Gough Gallery, and Festival Hall. Formerly built as warehouses and the city’s original steam power plant, the space was renovated in the 1980s and again in the late 2010s. All three exhibition spaces are free and open to the public. More information on this location and hours can be found here.

63 & 93: Generations in Conversation

October 10 - December 16, 2023
Meadows Gallery

63 & 93: Generations in Conversation, an exhibition featuring artwork created by artists 30 years of age and younger on display alongside artwork created by artists 60 years of age and older. Fifty works of art split evenly between younger and older artists, twenty-five for each age range. This exhibition will focus on influences and conversations, emphasizing how artists from different generations create artwork. The exhibition is not meant to be a competition but a point of conversation, drawing two age groups often seen in opposition to one another due to preconceived ideas. The exhibition will explore changes in technique, media usage, environmental and technological influences, and how artist representative of two different periods, the 1960s and the 1990s, are inspired.

This exhibition is funded in part by a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts
