ARTIST MEMBER: MIDLAKE
Midlake are an American folk rock band from Denton, Texas, formed in 1999. The band consists of Tim Smith, Eric Pulido, Paul Alexander, McKenzie Smith, Eric Nichelson, Jesse Chandler and Joey McClellan. The band first gained popularity in Europe, signing to Bella Union Records (owned by former Cocteau Twin Bassist, Simon Raymonde) and touring their first LP 'Bamnan and Slivercork' abroad and stateside. The band performed their first national TV appearance on 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson' (along with guest, actor/skateboarder, and long time friend/cohort, Jason Lee) broadening their appeal and paving the way for what was ahead. Their sophomore effort, The Trials of Van Occupanther, brought the band to new heights and popular reception among fans and media alike worldwide, putting the band at the forefront of the indie folk revival where many subsequent artists found a home. Rolling Stone recently chose the album's breakout single 'Roscoe' as one of the '100 Best Songs of The 2000s' solidifying the band's 'cult classic' status. Midlake has gone on to record 2 more albums 'The Courage of Others' (2010) and 'Antiphon' (2013, sans Tim Smith), while along the way playing legendary TV shows like 'Later...With Jools Holland', appearing at massive festivals like Glastonbury, and garnering a larger following than ever touring with the likes of Pearl Jam. The band is proud to call Denton, TX home and continues to support and promote the arts and people that make up this great community.
