Roni Beasley Award
The Patterson-Appleton Arts Center continues to exist thanks to support from its members and the local community. Even from its inception in 1985, when it was initially named the Center for the Visual Arts, it was the vision and work of an ad hoc committee of community and business leaders, working in partnership, raising the funds necessary to convert an abandoned city-owned building into what we now call the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center. The Greater Denton Arts Council wants to acknowledge actions and efforts, not always measurable but nonetheless essential to our success and progress, like that of John and Roni Beasley. While Mr. Beasley has passed on, Ms. Beasley continues with her long history of being involved with the arts since moving to Denton in 1973. She’s been a member and supporter of the Greater Denton Arts Council for over 35 years and served as the Board President from 1993-1995. It was during her term as president that the Campus Theatre was renovated and opened as the Denton Performing Arts Center. It’s because of the continuous support from Mrs. Beasley and others like her that the Greater Denton Arts Council can continue its support and advocacy for the arts culture across any of the various branches of creative activity. One Roni Beasley Award will be awarded. This award recognizes cumulative achievement as contrasted to one-time gifts or contributions. It may be given to an individual or business. To make a nomination, please complete a nomination form linked below and provide specific examples of meaningful contributions to the Greater Denton Arts Council over a period facilitated by the nominee’s direct involvement and support. You may supply additional information, and supporting materials are encouraged. GDAC Board Members and staff are not eligible for nomination.
