“de valore hominem” – what is a man’s value?

I’m taking the florals used in “definition masculi” and bringing them to the fore in asking how a man is valued. The brass vase, the gems, the coins, all represent various kinds and levels of wealth. The flowers represent an emotional wealth. With this, I ask, what is the value of a man, or how do we value men? Are men valued if they can provide emotional support? Protection?Fiscal security? Are men valued only if they are providing something of value to someone else?
