visa sunt sicut homines, etiam patres
“visa sunt sicut homines, etiam patres” – are men seen as fathers?
This is a question that hits home for myself as well as other men I’ve talked to. Our present social environment has seen men be infantilized about being able to care for, let alone raise children. I have a bowl with three chrysanthemums inside it, sitting on the edge of a shadow, sitting in an area with green tile. This is about as direct as I can be without blatantly stating that men are often cast to the shadows when it comes to being fathers to their children. While there are differences between how men and women raise and nurture children, this piece directly ties into the issues brought up with “ut sit pater”.
