ARTIST STATEMENT
Ghislaine Bazir works from tiny family photographs. From these black and white images, she tries to weave the memory of these disappeared, forgotten, often anonymous Caribbean people. The Alice and Anita series talks about two little girls in Marie-Galante in 1937 and evokes the discreet violence of their lives.
